Description

A comforting classic dish featuring juicy beef patties smothered in savory mushroom gravy, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Shape into oval patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties until browned on both sides, approximately 4-5 minutes.
  3. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add sliced mushrooms and chopped onion to the same skillet; sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  6. Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl until smooth. Stir into the gravy to thicken it, which should take 1-2 minutes.
  7. Return patties to the skillet, cover, and cook for another 10 minutes on low heat.
  8. Serve with gravy poured over the patties and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

For perfect results, ensure your skillet is hot before adding the patties and allow adequate time for the gravy to thicken.
