A beloved Thanksgiving side dish featuring fresh green beans in a creamy sauce, topped with crispy onions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound green beans, trimmed and cut
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare the green beans by blanching them in boiling water for about 3 minutes.
  2. Combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Mix the blanched green beans with the cream sauce and half of the crispy onions in a large bowl.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly in a greased baking dish.
  5. Top with the remaining crispy onions.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes, until the top is golden brown.

Notes

For best results, use fresh green beans. If needed, you can prepare the casserole a day ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator before baking.
