Description

A delightful, lighter version of the classic cheesesteak featuring tender chicken, sautéed vegetables, and melted cheese on hoagie rolls.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup provolone cheese or cheese of choice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hoagie rolls

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced onions and bell peppers, cooking until softened.
  3. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then add to the skillet.
  4. Cook until chicken is thoroughly cooked, approximately 6-7 minutes per side.
  5. Slice cooked chicken and return to skillet, mixing with vegetables.
  6. Top with provolone cheese and cover until melted.
  7. Serve the mixture in hoagie rolls.

Notes

For extra crunch, consider toasting the hoagie rolls lightly before serving. Marinating the chicken can enhance flavor.
