- 1 lb fresh or frozen green beans
- 1/2 cup half-and-half
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/3 cup flour
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1/2 medium onion (chopped)
- 10 oz fresh sliced mushrooms (cleaned)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup French’s Crispy Fried Onions
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C).
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and blanch the green beans for about 10 minutes.
- Drain the beans and set them aside.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and sliced mushrooms, season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and sauté for about five minutes.
- Sift in the flour one tablespoon at a time, stirring constantly.
- Alternate adding the half-and-half and milk, mixing until combined into a creamy sauce.
- Remove from heat and gently fold in the drained green beans.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 7"x3"x11" baking dish.
- Bake for about 30 minutes, and in the last five minutes, sprinkle with French fried onions and return to the oven.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider adding shredded cheese or experimenting with different toppings.
