Description

Enjoy crispy, golden-brown onion rings made effortlessly in an air fryer for a healthier snack or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large sweet onion, cut into 1/2-inch thick rounds and separated into rings
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Stir together the flour, smoked paprika, and 1/4 teaspoon of the salt in a shallow dish.
  2. In another shallow dish, lightly beat the egg and water together.
  3. Stir together the panko and remaining 1/4 teaspoon of salt in a third dish.
  4. Dredge the onion rings first in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  5. Dip them into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off.
  6. Finally, dredge them in the panko mixture, ensuring each ring is well coated.
  7. Coat both sides of the onion rings lightly with cooking spray.
  8. Place each onion ring in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  9. Cook at 375°F for about 10 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy, flipping them at the 6-minute mark.

Notes

For a crispy texture, avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. You can customize the seasonings based on your preference.
